A Chinese food consisting of small dumplings filled with various ingredients that may include meats, seafood, vegetables, cheeses, and seasonings. The ingredients are wrapped in Wonton skins, also known as wrappers made from a thin pasta dough used to make egg noodles consisting of wheat flour, water and eggs. The Wonton is shaped into a small, bite-sized serving that can then be prepared as a deep-fried, boiled, or steamed Wonton. Also referred to as Won Ton, this dumpling is often served as an appetizer or a main dish, such as Crab Rangoon. A dipping sauce commonly accompanies the Wontons when they are served.
