A food dish made from ground meat and other ingredients, which are combined and baked in a pan. A loaf pan or ring mold is most often used, which forms the ingredients into the shape of the pan. After baking, the meat loaf is removed from the pan, placed on a platter, and sliced into servings. When a ring shape is used, the open center can be kept open or filled with vegetables or a potato dish, if desired, to enhance the appearance.
