A chile pepper that is often available as a green or red fresh pepper and also commonly purchased as a ground pepper to be used as a spice for seasoning. When harvested during the warmer months, it is green or turns to red as the cooler weather arrives. It has a very hot, biting flavor and a little goes a long way when seasoning dishes. This pepper may also be referred to as a finger pepper, finger chili, ginnie pepper, or bird pepper.
