A winter squash that has a long, pear-shape covered with a smooth tan skin that surrounds a golden-orange, somewhat fiberous flesh. The rounded end contains all the seeds so the upper portion is all meat. When baked or microwaved, the sweet flavored, buttery smooth flesh is a favorite for puddings, pies and savory casseroles. It is one of the most popular winter squashes and may also be referred to as the pumpkin squash.
