A type of berry that is a hybrid of a blackberry, a raspberry and a loganberry, producing a fruit with a reddish-black color and sweet taste. Like the raspberry, it is harvested from a shrub belonging to the rose family and can be a very fragile fruit that crushes easily if not stored as single layers of berries in refrigerated storage after being harvested. To retain the flavor and preserve the texture of the berry, wash only before serving and keep refrigerated for only several days. This berry is often referred to as a nectarberry.
