A thermometer used to check the temperature of a refrigerator. The same thermometer is used to check the temperature a freezer. A refrigerator/freezer thermometer will register temperatures between –20°F to 80°F. It is important that the refrigerator temperature is kept at 40°F or below to eliminate the risk of premature food spoilage. The freezer should be at 0°F or below to prevent the food from deteriorating prematurely. The thermometer should be placed towards the top and front of the unit when checking the temperature and left for 6 to 7 hours without opening the unit. If the unit’s temperature isn’t in the proper range, adjust the temperature control accordingly and then recheck.
