This type of taco may be referred to as a soft shell taco. The tortilla may also be baked and formed into a crispy curved shell, which is called a tostada that serves as a formed holder for ingredients that become what is known as a hard shell taco. Tacos can be served nicely as small appetizers or as a main meal.
