Electric Grill

A grilling unit that uses an electric element to supply a constant heat source. Because there is no flame involved, other fuel, such as gas or charcoal, are not necessary. The grill’s grate, onto which the food is placed, is positioned above an electric element and a drip pan is positioned on the bottom of the unit to catch the extra fat and juices that drip from the food as it cooks. The drip pan sometimes holds flavorized ceramic briquets, which provides extra flavor when the juices drip on them.

Another style of electric grill is one that has a solid grill grate containing deep grooves where the fat and juices collect. The grate is slightly tilted towards a drip pan where the drippings collected in the grooves will flow. This solid grate sits on top of the heating element. There are many different varieties of electric grills available, such as indoor, outdoor, tabletop models, and models on stands.
