A dried or dehydrated form of garlic that has been sliced into flakes or minced bits to be used as a cooking and flavoring ingredient. Also referred to as instant garlic, this form is often used in soups, sauces and stews where it is reconstituted into very small pieces of garlic, adding the distinctive garlic flavor but not necessarily the texture. 1/2 teaspoon of garlic flakes equals 1 clove of garlic or 1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder.
