A type of edible food oil, also known as soy oil or soya oil, which is processed from soybeans. It is one of the most widely used oils for food preparation and processing. Foods such as margarine, shortenings, mayonnaise, salad dressings, baked goods, and a variety of others use some form of the oil as an ingredient. Soybean oil contains no cholesterol and approximately 85% unsaturated fat (61% polyunsaturated fat and 24% monounsaturated fat). It is often used as a cooking oil because of its high smoke point.
