Pronounced gahr-gah-neh-gah. A grape varietal used in the production of white wine. The primary varietal used in the Soave wines of Italy, it is also used in wines from the D.O.C.'s of Bianco di Custoza, Colli Berici, and Gambellara.
Also known as: Gargana and Lizzana.
Characteristics: Generally bland and unexciting, at its best the grape will produce a delicate, elegant wine with aromatic hints of lemon and almonds.
