A dessert made with baked fruit that combines a variety of ingredients, which include butter, flour, and cinnamon. Additional ingredients may also include brown sugar, oatmeal and nuts that are mixed with the butter, flour and cinnamon to create a granular topping that is spread over the baked fruit. The topping is baked until golden brown and crispy, thus the name fruit crisp. This dessert may also be referred to as "crumbles," a British term for this fruit creation. Although it can be served cold, a fruit crisp is most often served warm.
