Small in size and round in shape, this variety of pepper has the appearance of a large cherry or a small cherry tomato. Harvested as either a green or more mature red-colored pepper, the Cherry Pepper, which may also be referred to as a Hungarian Cherry Pepper, is most commonly available as a pickled pepper pod sold in jars of brine at many food stores. Sweet and mild or hot and spicy flavored, this type of pepper is typically served as a condiment to accompany lunch dishes, such as sandwiches or salads. It can also be sliced and added and an ingredient to fresh salad greens or served on a vegetable appetizer tray to eat out of hand or with a dip.
