Made from the juices of roasted meats, this is an ingredient that is often added to foods in order to deepen the flavor of the foods being prepared. Food bases are commonly made with the natural juices of a variety of different meats, shellfish, fish, herbs, and other foods to be formed into a paste or a granular product. Similar to bouillon, food bases provide a more concentrated flavor when making sauces, broth, soups, or vegetable, meat, pasta, and rice dishes. Food bases are available as beef base, ham base, turkey base, chicken base, clam base, lobster base, mushroom base, vegetable base, as well as other food bases.
