Hazelnut Butter

A soft spreadable nut butter made from the slightly sweet, round nut grown on shrubs and trees in North America, Europe, and Asia. Hazelnuts, which are also known as filberts, can be ground like peanuts into a rich buttery mixture that can be spread on a variety of foods such as bread, flatbreads or toast, desserts, crackers, waffles, pancakes, pasta, fruits, and vegetables. The butter can be thinned and made into a sauce or combined with other ingredients such as almonds or lemon juice to create a nice addition to many foods. There is not a lot of oil separation with hazelnut butter, which is available in stores or can be made in a blender.
