Hi, I'm new to the site and wonder if any one could tell me what to use in the place of green or red peppers when called for in a recipe. My husband is allergic to peppers and I would love to make some of the recipes that have them in it.
Thanks
Mary
crazysquaw,
I don't know that there is a perfect substitution. Depending on the recipe and your likings, I would try asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, or celery. If it was a salad, maybe diced tomatoes. Too bad he is allergic to peppers, they definitely have a taste of their own but some of the other vegetables mentioned also have great taste. Good luck!
Aren't Olive, Canola, Sunflower, etc., all different kinds of "vegetable" oils? My daughter has a recipe that calls for "vegetable oil" and is concerned that the oils we have in the cupboard (above) are unacceptable.
Has anyone dehydrated tomatoes before? I was wondering how to dry them. Do you just dry the tomatoes or do you have to season them or do anything special to them before you dry them? I have had them before and they are great to snack on.
I’ll be cooking a Peruvian dish for my grandparents this weekend and I need suggestions. This will be my first time cooking a Peruvian cuisine and I badly need your help on what to cook.
